Iceland rejects EU membership in referendum at record turnout

Icelanders voted in a referendum against continuing EU accession negotiations. Prime Minister Kristrun Frostadottir conceded after the result, saying it is "quite clear that the matter of further negotiations with the EU will not continue". Turnout was the highest in years.
