Polish Health Ministry plans to curb drug waste — 3,300 tonnes discarded yearly
Poles hand in 3,300 tonnes of unused medicines to pharmacies for disposal each year, with the true amount discarded likely even higher, according to the Health Ministry's Mateusz Oczkowski. The ministry is preparing reforms to tackle the problem, which is driven by patients collecting prescriptions from multiple doctors and stockpiling years' worth of medications.
