Niger junta crushes mutiny with help from Russia's Africa Corps
Forces loyal to Niger's ruling junta, backed by Russia's Africa Corps, put down a military mutiny in Niamey. Mutineers temporarily seized the presidential palace and a military base at the capital's main airport. State television reported dozens of soldiers killed or arrested, with some paraded live on camera. Life returned to normal in the capital a day after the unrest.
