CAR T-cell therapy puts severe rheumatoid arthritis into remission in three patients

CAR T-cell therapy dramatically reduced disease activity in six people with severe rheumatoid arthritis resistant to other treatments, with three achieving medication-free remission. The treatment appears to work by clearing out harmful immune cells and effectively rebooting part of the immune system. Researchers stress that much larger clinical studies are still needed to confirm the findings.
