US and Venezuela sign 25-year oil deal — Amazon at environmental risk

The United States has signed a 25-year deal for Venezuelan heavy crude oil, which is highly sulphurous and thick. Extracting and refining it requires roughly $100 billion in investments over a decade. Without those funds, the Amazon environment will continue to be polluted by oil spills and extraction damage.
