North Korea appoints new defence minister amid military shake-up

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un appointed a new defence minister, state agency KCNA reported on Sunday. The sweeping command shake-up is intended to accelerate military modernisation and restore discipline following a corruption scandal. The reshuffle is expected to cover the entire defence sector.
