How the war in Ukraine has transformed Russia's Su-34 bombers
Russia deployed 60 to 80 Su-34M and Su-34NWO bombers from a fleet of 130–140 aircraft at the start of the war. They operated from bases including Luninets in Belarus, Buturlinovka and Morozovsk. In the early phase of the conflict, they carried out attacks with conventional bombs on Kyiv, Kharkiv and the Donbas, and frontline losses have since driven changes in Russia's defence industry.
