Volhynia exhumations: victims from Ostrówki and Wola Ostrowiecka to be buried
On 30 August, victims of the 1943 Volhynia massacre killed in Ostrówki and Wola Ostrowiecka will be formally buried. Historian Dr Leon Popek, a descendant of the victims, describes the harrowing exhumation process, during which remains of women and small children — small enough to fit in a hand — were uncovered. UPA fighters had driven the victims 200 metres from a local school to the place of execution.
