Australia considers opt-out social media algorithms and strangulation porn ban
The Australian government is considering letting users opt in or out of social media algorithms as part of efforts to combat rising sexual violence among teenagers. It is also examining a UK-style ban on pornography depicting strangulation and suffocation. Social services minister Tanya Plibersek said social media is "playing a huge role" in the increase in teen sexual violence and choking. The measures are being developed as part of Australia's second action plan on family and domestic violence.
