Sony Music and Warner Chappell Sue Anthropic for Copyright Infringement
Sony Music and Warner Chappell have filed suit against AI company Anthropic in the US District Court for the Northern District of California over the alleged use of "tens of thousands" of copyrighted works. The labels are seeking up to $150,000 per infringed work, plus up to $25,000 for each instance of stripped copyright data. The lawsuit targets the way Anthropic's AI models were trained on protected material.
