Pogacar abandons Vuelta a España after heavy crash on stage eight

Race leader Tadej Pogacar of UAE Team Emirates pulled out of the Vuelta a España after a heavy crash 31km from the finish of stage eight, suffering shoulder and face injuries. He was taken away by ambulance. Pogacar, a five-time Tour de France winner and Giro d'Italia champion, had been targeting his first overall victory in the Spanish race.
