Attack on airport and presidential palace in Niger's capital Niamey

On Saturday morning, attackers struck the international airport in Niamey and attempted to breach the security cordon around the presidential residence. Gunfire and explosions were heard across several parts of the Nigerien capital. Authorities declared a security forces mobilisation in response.
