Internet donors raise 300,000 zł for fire engine after mayor withdrew funding pledge

Volunteer firefighters from OSP Gaszyn in Łódź voivodeship raised nearly 300,000 złoty for a new fire engine through an online crowdfunding campaign, after the mayor of Wieluń withdrew an earlier pledge of municipal funding. Upon reaching the fundraising goal, the unit's president — also a city councillor — doused himself with a bucket of cold water as a thank-you gesture to donors.
