Polish professor creates "SpudCell" — a synthetic cell built from potato components
Prof. Katarzyna Adamala of the University of Minnesota has created a laboratory construct dubbed "SpudCell" — a synthetic cell assembled from living components derived from potato. The object does not exist in nature, yet is made entirely of biological material, raising questions about the boundary between artificial and natural life. The experiment sparks new debate over the very definition of life.
