Record European heatwave summer 2026: Sardinia hits 48.4°C

Many European countries, including Poland, broke their temperature records during the summer of 2026, according to an AFP analysis. The highest temperature was recorded on the Italian island of Sardinia, where thermometers reached 48.4°C. The season also brought prolonged heatwaves and exceptionally warm nights across the continent.
