Victorian government scraps Daniel Andrews sculpture after criticism over $134,000 cost
The Carroll government in Victoria, Australia has cancelled plans for a $134,000 sculpture of former Labor Premier Daniel Andrews after heavy criticism of the cost. Work on the statue had begun in May under a 1999 policy recognising long-serving Victorian premiers. The Liberal opposition had strongly condemned the use of public funds for the project.
