French general warns France is unprepared for drone warfare and hybrid attacks

At the La REF 2026 conference in Paris on 26–27 August, General Fabien Mandon assessed that France is not prepared for the threats posed by drone warfare. The head of French counter-intelligence simultaneously warned of brutal hybrid attacks targeting Europe. The remarks came against the backdrop of intensifying Russian strikes on Ukraine and NATO assessments of a risk of confrontation with Russia by 2029.
