Humpback whales make spectacular comeback off Brazil's coast after whaling ban

Humpback whales were once driven to the brink of extinction in the South Atlantic, but their population has rebounded spectacularly since the worldwide moratorium on commercial whaling took effect in 1986. Scientists travel to Brazil's Abrolhos archipelago each year to study and record the whales. The humpback recovery is widely regarded as a model example of successful species conservation.
