Polish welfare official earning 300,000 zł a year lives in a council flat

Marzena Zalewska, deputy director of the Municipal Social Welfare Centre in Piaseczno, earns over 300,000 zł gross per year yet has been occupying a two-room council flat for years, according to the newspaper Fakt. Nearly 160 families in the municipality are currently waiting for a council flat. The case has sparked public outrage over the misuse of social housing.
