Parmesan and feta dispute clouds US-Mexico trade talks

A dispute over the right to use cheese names such as parmesan, feta and manchego has become an unexpected stumbling block in US-Mexico trade negotiations. The disagreement centres on geographical indications — labels the EU has long sought to protect — while the US considers many of them generic names. The American cheese market involved is worth around one billion dollars a year.
