Praggnanandhaa wins Grand Chess Tour finals and $200,000 prize
Indian grandmaster Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa, 21, defeated US world No 2 Fabiano Caruana 15-13 in a mix of classical, rapid and blitz games to win the Grand Chess Tour finals in St Louis, earning a record $200,000 first prize. It is his second major title of the summer, following his Norway Chess victory in Oslo. Separately, Wesley So won the prestigious Sinquefield Cup for the second consecutive year, earning over $100,000 despite nine mostly uneventful draws.
