Mauritania intercepts migrant boat carrying 161 people, including 17 children

Mauritanian authorities intercepted a boat carrying 161 migrants attempting to reach Europe, including 17 children. Mauritania is a major transit point on the West African migration route towards the Canary Islands. The intercepted migrants were handed over to the authorities.
