Dutch plan to store summer heat underground — water heated to 90°C and buried
Dutch engineers are planning an innovative thermal energy storage project in which water will be heated to 90°C during summer and pumped deep underground. The stored heat will then be extracted in winter to provide heating. The project is aimed at stabilising the energy grid and cutting CO₂ emissions.
