Belgium launches voluntary one-year military service for young people

Belgium launched a voluntary one-year military service programme on Wednesday for people aged 18 to 25. The first 50 volunteers began training in the navy, with a further 450 recruits set to join in the coming weeks. The programme is aimed at strengthening the country's armed forces.
