US, South Korea and Japan to hold joint military drills in September despite Trump's earlier curbs

South Korea's military command announced that the armed forces of South Korea, Japan and the United States will conduct joint exercises in September. The drills aim to test readiness against what is described as an increasing threat from North Korea. The announcement followed Donald Trump's decision to limit US participation in August exercises with Seoul, citing concerns about sending the "wrong signal".
