Russia's Starlink rival Rassvet is losing satellites faster than it can replace them

Russia's Rassvet-3 broadband satellite network, developed by Bureau 1440, is running into serious technical problems. Of two batches launched in 2026, several satellites failed to reach their intended orbits — one has already re-entered Earth's atmosphere, and two newer spacecraft have shown no orbital-raising manoeuvres since July. Moscow is losing satellites faster than it can build replacements.
