Pentagon awards $11M contract to X-Bow Systems for sub-$750K interceptor

The US Department of Defense has awarded an approximately $11 million contract to X-Bow Systems, a New Mexico-based rocket manufacturer, to develop a new anti-ballistic weapon costing less than $750,000 per shot — roughly a fifth of the cost of a Patriot missile. The contract falls under the Missile Defense Agency's Rapid Response Small Launcher Technology program, which seeks rapidly demonstrable, low-cost, modular interceptor designs against ballistic and hypersonic threats.
