GOP takes fight for cheaper TV election ads to the Supreme Court

Republican campaign committees are asking the Supreme Court to require broadcast TV stations to offer political parties and joint fundraising committees the lowest unit charge (LUC) for election ads — a discount currently available only to individual candidates in the 60 days before an election. The Trump administration's FCC had ordered broadcasters to extend the discount, but lower courts ruled against it. The case could reshape how parties finance their TV ad campaigns.
