47 of Russia's top 50 universities recruit students for military service

An analysis by independent outlet Novaya Gazeta Europe found that at least 47 of Russia's top 50 universities are encouraging students to sign contracts with the defence ministry and join the military. Thirty-two of those institutions run dedicated drone-specialist training programmes. The findings point to deep militarisation of Russian higher education.
