Mars has a 'hot' south: scientists discover major thermal anomaly in planet's interior
Scientists have identified a significant thermal anomaly beneath Mars's southern hemisphere, where temperatures are 200–400 degrees Celsius higher than in the north. The finding overturns previous assumptions about the Red Planet's internal structure. Researchers say it could shed new light on episodes when liquid water — and potentially life — may have existed on Mars.
