Ratko Mladić dies in Hague prison aged 84

Ratko Mladić, convicted of war crimes and genocide during the Balkan wars of the 1990s, died on 27 August aged 84 in The Hague, where he was serving a life sentence. He was responsible for some of the worst atrocities in Europe since World War II, including the Srebrenica massacre. His death has refocused global attention on the victims of the Balkan conflicts.
