Microsoft-backed AI datacenter in New Jersey runs dozens of unpermitted gas generators

The DataOne AI datacenter in Vineland, New Jersey — backed by Microsoft — is accused of violating federal law by operating without proper permits. Thermal drone footage captured by non-profit newsroom Floodlight showed at least 45 of the site's 62 gas-powered generators running without authorisation. DataOne is the largest planned AI datacenter in New Jersey.
