Libya offers to fill Europe's energy gap after Strait of Hormuz closure

Libya's Oil and Gas Minister Khalifa Abdel Sadig told a panel at the Offshore Northern Seas conference in Stavanger, Norway, that Libya can play a "key role" in providing energy security solutions for the EU following the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Libya holds the largest proven oil reserves in Africa. However, widespread smuggling and attacks on critical infrastructure raise serious doubts about the country's ability to deliver on that promise after more than a decade of instability.
