Nanomaterial "sunscreen" blanket could cut water evaporation from dams

Researchers have developed a thin floating nanomaterial layer that can be spread over dams and lakes to reduce water evaporation by blocking heat while still allowing sunlight through. The technology is aimed at helping conserve scarce water supplies in hot, arid parts of Africa. Scientists liken its function to sunscreen applied to a water surface.
