Pumas in Polish forests — why the wave of false sightings?

Poland has been flooded with reports of alleged puma sightings for several weeks. Only one case was confirmed — a puma was caught in the West Pomeranian region. In all other cases, no predator was found or photos turned out to be fake. Experts point to a snowball effect fuelled by media and social media attention.
