Interlune simulates solar wind to unlock Moon's helium-3 deposits

Seattle-based company Interlune has developed a laboratory method that replicates thousands of years of solar wind exposure on lunar regolith in just a few hours. The accelerated simulation is designed to help test technology for extracting helium-3 — an isotope valuable for science and medicine — without requiring a trip to the Moon. The advance brings commercial lunar resource extraction a step closer.
