Polish Health Ministry targets expensive drugs on free-medicine list — program cost 9bn PLN in 2025
Poland's free-medicine programme cost over 9 billion zlotys in 2025, with a large share going to manufacturers of expensive brand-name drugs that have cheaper generic alternatives. The Health Ministry plans changes to redirect funding towards generics while assuring patients the quality of their care will not suffer. The ministry wants to limit reimbursement of originator drugs where generics are available.
