EU Commission to use Polish evidence against Meta in probe over scam ads

European Commission spokesperson for digital affairs Thomas Regnier confirmed the Commission will consider evidence submitted by Poland in its investigation against Meta. Poland's Ministry of Digitalisation is seeking a fine of €250 million for Meta over fraudulent content and unwanted advertising. However, only the EU Commission — not individual member states — has the authority to penalise large platforms.
