Poland asks EU to fine Meta €250 million over fraudulent ads
Poland's digitalisation minister Krzysztof Gawkowski has submitted a request to the European Commission to impose a €250 million fine on Meta for failing to tackle fraudulent advertisements. The move is considered surprising given that Gawkowski had previously been criticised for appointing Meta's Central and Eastern Europe public policy director Jakub Turowski to Poland's Digital Council. The case stems from the scandal over fake ads featuring businessman Rafał Brzoska.
