Meta to pay $18 billion to settle US teen addiction lawsuits

Meta has agreed to pay up to $18 billion over the next decade and impose strict limits on how teenagers use Facebook and Instagram, settling claims brought by nearly all US states. The deal ends a federal trial alleging Meta deliberately designed its platforms to addict children. The company was also accused of misleading the public about the safety of its products.
