Coal hits 1,800 PLN per tonne in Poland — more rises expected ahead of winter

The price of coal in Poland has risen from 1,300 PLN per tonne in August to 1,800 PLN, a jump of 500 PLN, with the peak winter-stocking season still ahead. Polish Mining Group (PGG) has also ended one of its promotional discounts, adding a further 250 PLN to customer bills. Experts warn that additional price increases are likely as demand for winter fuel reserves peaks.
