A poll published in "Rzeczpospolita" shows that nearly 60% of Poles believe the nomination of Maciej Berek as a Constitutional Tribunal judge undermines judicial independence and deepens its politicisation. Even voters of the ruling coalition are more opposed than in favour of the move. Berek is a former government minister.
