Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama dies at 97

Yayoi Kusama, the Japanese artist celebrated for her polka-dot motifs and works of "self-obliteration", has died at the age of 97. Her output — spanning polka-dotted nudes, mirror installations and immersive environments — earned her global acclaim and a lasting place in contemporary art. She is regarded as one of the most recognisable artists of the 20th and 21st centuries.
