Qantas posts lowest profit in four years as Iran war drives up fuel costs
Qantas reported a pre-tax profit of A$2.06bn, its lowest in four years, after the US war on Iran drove jet fuel costs up by $610m. The Australian national carrier also announced it will phase out its Airbus A380 aircraft as it prepares to add new planes to its fleet. The airline declined to forecast the revenue impact of a new carry-on luggage charge on its Jetstar subsidiary.
