Australian Woman Gives Birth to Twins With Two Separate Sets of Biological Parents

A Queensland woman gave birth to twin children in November, each with a different set of biological parents, in what is believed to be an Australian first. The surrogate conceived an unplanned natural pregnancy at around the same time she received an IVF embryo transfer under a surrogacy agreement with another couple. The situation was so unprecedented that Queensland's surrogacy laws had not contemplated such a scenario, requiring a court ruling.
