Two Frankfurt Airport workers die of malaria from mosquitoes brought in by aircraft

Six employees at Frankfurt Airport contracted malaria in an unusual cluster, and two of them have died. Mosquitoes brought in aboard an aircraft are believed to have caused the infections, in a rare case of so-called airport malaria. The incident highlights the risk of tropical disease transmission through air travel even for people who have never visited endemic regions.
