Meta settles for $17 billion and new teen protections

Meta has agreed to a $17 billion settlement with attorneys general from four US states over child safety violations on Facebook and Instagram, in a landmark federal trial. The deal is one of the largest ever reached over teen safety on social media platforms. Meta has also committed to introducing sweeping new safeguards for teenage users across both platforms.
