France's top general warns the country is not ready to counter cheap mass-produced drones

General Fabien Mandon, France's chief of defence staff, warned that the country is not yet equipped to counter the threat of cheap, mass-produced drones such as Iranian-made Shaheds. Speaking at an event organised by France's main business lobby Medef, he said enemies "have developed a large number of low-cost solutions that will wear down our models." He noted that Western arsenals rely on high-tech missiles worth millions of dollars being used to shoot down drones worth only tens of thousands — a financially unsustainable equation.
