Webb telescope's mysterious "little red dots" turn out to be ultra-compact galaxies
The mysterious objects spotted by the James Webb Space Telescope and dubbed "little red dots" have been identified as exceptionally compact galaxies rather than isolated points of light. New analyses of the data suggest that an unusual astronomical object may lurk at their centres. The finding offers new insight into the early stages of galaxy formation in the universe.
