Greenland's Petermann Glacier calves 76 sq km chunk of ice

ESA's Sentinel satellites captured a 76 sq km chunk of ice breaking off Greenland's Petermann Glacier, with scientists able to watch the cracks and deformations develop in real time beforehand. While glacial calving is a natural process, experts warn it is occurring with increasing frequency. The event is described as yet another clear indicator of rapid climate change in the Arctic.
